Darren “Daz” Teal has been a mainstay of Club100 since 2003. With father Keith present at all of the races and, until a few years ago, brother Ant also a star driver, team Teal is what Club100 is all about: competitive, sociable and family-friendly. During the long-distance races up North or at Spa-Francorchamps, you can usually find Teal at the centre of the social fun - usually off his face.
Teal first got involved with Club100 after his father saw Club100 at the Autosport Show at the NEC. Having no prior experience, he jumped straight into the lightweight sprint championship and spent the next couple of seasons working his way up the pecking order. His first real taste of success came in 2006 when, along with Anton Killick and brother Ant, he won the newly formed Clubman endurance title. Moving to the premier series for 2007 saw them emerge as one of the brightest new teams with a handful of podium finishes. Wins came the following year when Chris Powell joined the team and, with the likes of D’Oily Kart and Essex TT disappearing over the next couple of seasons, Teal’s Tanked Up Racing team became one of the championship contenders over the next few years, culminating in winning the premier crown in 2012.
Daz has also continued to compete regularly in the sprint championship with modest success and also takes part in the trips abroad, most notably Spa-Francorchamps where he can usually be found propping up several bars in the evening. His friendly demeanour and good club spirit make him one of the most popular drivers up and down the pit lane.
